Estate: Martin and Anna Arndorfer each come from families with a long history of winemaking in Kamptal. Their certified organic estate is on south facing slopes near the Danube flats near the village of Straß im Straßertale. Committed to nature, with a passion to learn and experiment, they are one of the pioneering forces in the new generation of Austrian winemaking.
Winemaking: Wild yeast spontaneous fermentation of Grüner Veltliner with Riesling skins for 10 days, aged 4 months in months in 2/3 stainless steel and 1/3 in used French oak barrels, unfined, unfiltered.
Philosophy: “Nature is the strongest force, we love to work with her. Because the knowledge that the soil is the most intelligent thing we deal with, we‘ve decided to trust him. Because the beliefs that the plants nourish our soils, we let them grow…. We think that winemakers are artisans, or even artists. Their work requires creativity, sensitivity and an enormous amount of personality.”
Tasting Notes: Mandarin orange, grapefruit, lemon, clove, saline minerality framed with tingly acidity and jasmin green tea tannins. Lemon tart, dried mango, apricot infuse the smoky finish. Tangy, spiky, radiant.
