Estate: Following in the footsteps of the ancient Romans, Roberto Zeno cultivates vineyards on the slopes of the extinct volcano, Roccamonfina in Campania. The 22 hectare estate is mostly woods, with 4 hectares of organic/biodynamic farmed vineyards.
Winemaking: Certified organic, 15 year old vines in volcanic sandy soils at 280 meters in elevation. Hand harvested, wild yeast spontaneous fermentation in amphorae, skin maceration for 8 days, aged for 6 months in amphorae, unfined, unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: Pear, green apple, honeysuckle, salty minerality, good acidity glide atop green tea tannins. Lemon tart and smoky earth infuse the creamy finish. A dynamic salty/smoky fusion.
