Ca’Liptra ‘Pet-Nat’ Vino Bianco Frizzante 2020

Estate: Founded in 2012 by 4 friends [Giovanni Loberto, Agostino Pisani, Antonella Traspadini, Roberto Alfieri], Ca’Liptra is in the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi region of the Marche. The 5 hectares of old vine vineyards are in the San Michele contrada, one of the warmest areas of the region and considered by many as the top cru of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi.

Winemaking: Limestone and gypsum soils, vines planted in the 1970s & 80s, with a parcel planted in 1948. Native yeast spontaneous fermentation with Trebbiano Toscano grapes macerating on the skins for 2-3 weeks, Verdicchio grapes pressed white, blended after fermentation, 2nd fermentation in the bottle started with unfermented must, unfined, unfiltered. The 2020 is the first vintage of ‘Pet-Nat’; their vision is that it will be a wine that will differ from year to year, depending on “what a given season offers”. Certified organic.

Tasting Notes: Pear, lemon, hint of buttery bread glossed by citrus acidity. Light green tea tannins merge with the bitter almond finish, fine fizz buoys each bright sip.
