Estate: The Ferretti family has been cultivating grapes in the middle of the Tortona Hills in eastern Piemonte since the early 1900’s. The estate has been organic since 1985, when Enio Ferretti took the reins. He is dedicated to the native grapes of the region; Barbera, Dolcetto, Freisa, Cortese and Timorasso.
Winemaking: From a 10 year old vineyard in Comune di Carezzano, 350 meters in elevation facing south, with Marne di Sant’Agata Fossili soils [layers of marl, sediments, silt, clay and marine fossils]. Hand harvested, crushed, destemmed, wild yeast spontaneous fermentation with maceration for 6 days in concrete tanks, unfiltered, unfined.
Tasting Notes: Concentrated layers of raspberry, blackberry, pomegranate, roasted chestnut flanked by tangy acidity and grippy tannins. Wild strawberry, raspberry, rose hip tea infuse the roasted hazelnut finish. Plush, vivid, dynamic.
