Estate: Founded in 1997, Cantina Giardino is a collaboration between Antonio and Daniela di Gruttola, along with 4 of their friends. They set out to save indigenous, old vineyards in Irpinia that were at risk of being abandoned or uprooted. Vineyards occupy 16 distinct parcels, totaling nearly 6 hectares. Allowing the grape and the volcanic terroir express itself, Antonio farms using low intervention, biodynamic and organic methods.
Winemaking: From a “parcel of coda di volpe bianco in Montemarano that could not get harvested in time before three weeks’ non-stop rain. The grapes were only picked on 9th November and as a result of all that water the wine is a glou glou wine of deliciousness, with only 10% alcohol. Two days maceration on skins and fermentation and ageing in stainless steel.”
Tasting Notes: The slightest fizz glosses nectarine, lemon, green apple, tangerine, hay, earthy minerality. Super tart acidity integrates with lime zest and lemon on the tangy finish. Crisp, bright, energized.
