Estate: Founded in 1991 by Jean-Charles Maire with family lands, Domaine du Pout de Breux is in northern Côtes du Jura in the communes of Marnoz and Salins-les-Bains. The 4 hectares of vineyards are surrounded by 16 hectares of fields, helping protect the vines from neighbors using chemicals in their vineyards. Certified organic in 1998, since 2015 the estate has been headed by Emilie Gerard.
Winemaking: Vines are about 25 years old in limestone soils. Sous-voile, or ‘under-the-veil’ for 18 months in oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Lemon, orange, apple, citrus blossom, chamomile, drizzle of salty caramel glossed with bright acidity. A fusion of floral and minerality lingers on the mercurial finish. Ardent, focused.
