Estate: Coming from a long line of grape growers that sold their wine to local shops or large production facilities in Marsala, Vincenzo Angileri changed direction in 2013. Uniting his land and his wife’s family lands, he established a single, 5 hectare property with a century’s worth of grape cultivation and traditions. The old vine, coastal vineyards stretch across Marsala and Mazara del Vallo in western Sicily at 100-200 meters in elevation.
Winemaking: Organic, minimal intervention. Vines are 40-50 years old, hand-harvested, indigenous yeast spontaneous fermentation with 7 days of skin maceration in stainless steel. Aged on the lees for 7 months in stainless steel, unfined, unfiltered, no added SO2.
Tasting Notes: Apricot, apple, caramel, lemongrass, fenugreek, sea spray flanked by citrus acidity and green tea tannins. Butterscotch, orange, lemon linger on the salty finish. Sleek, luminous.
