Furlani ‘Macerato’ Vino Spumante 2020

Estate: Matteo Furlani is the 4th generation of his family to farm the tiny plots of vines, 700+ meters in altitude, in the Dolomites of Trentino, northeastern Italy. The estate was always farmed organically, without any chemicals. Matteo has taken this natural approach further, adopting biodynamic methods.

Philosophy: “Grapes cultivated and vinified with passion, always respecting nature, environment and animals.”

Winemaking: Made with the Sur Lie Method, from the winery: “Sur Lie is something in between Pet Nats, Ancestral Method, Champagne Method”. Wild yeast spontaneous fermentation with approximately 10 days skin contact in stainless steel, frozen must added before re-fermentation in the bottle during Spring. No added sugar or sulfur, no disgorgement.

Tasting Notes: Delicate wild berries, nectarine, citrus zest, hay, crisp minerality, good acidity buoyed by rolling fizz. Pink grapefruit, a whisp of toasted coconut on the mineral driven finish. Lithe, agile.
