Estate: The spunky husband and wife team Gianmarco Antonuzzi and Clémentine Bouveron revitalized around 14 hectares of abandoned land in Gradoli, Gianmarco’s childhood town. The property faces Lake Bolsena and is on the border between Lazio and Tuscany. Vines [many ungrafted] are set amongst olive groves, chestnut and oak trees. Farming is low intervention, using biodynamic and organic principles [certified]. The volcanic soil is rich in iron and minerals.
Winemaking: Wild yeast spontaneous fermentation, carbonic maceration, aged in neutral oak barrels, unfined, unfiltered, no added SO2.
Tasting Notes: Silky layers of black cherry, blackberry, black olive, caper, red currant, black pepper, wisp of smoky earth flanked by fine grain tannins and tingly acidity. Iron minerality, black cherry, black olive infuse the spicy finish. Vivacious and enchanting.
