Costadilà ‘Móz’ Vino Frizzante Bianco 2019

Estate: Costadilà Articoltura was founded by Ernesto Cattel along with some friends and partners in 2006. Ernesto passed away in 2018, however the ideology behind the project is still continuing, following Ernesto’s vision of polyculture, organic and sustainable living and the revitalization of the ancient way of making sparkling wine. Ernesto passionately pioneered the reintroduction of Metodo Ancestrale/Ancestral Method or Col Fondo Prosecco wines, sparkling wines made in the ancient, traditional manner, without disgorgement or added sugar.

Winemaking: Farming is organic, biodynamic and with minimal intervention. Vines are in volcanic soils, spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts with maceration on the skins for 10 days, aged on the fine lees for 5 months in stainless steel, second fermentation in the bottle started with passito [dried] grapes. Unfined, unfiltered no added SO2. The attached tag states this is a “No frills Moscato”.

Tasting Notes: Tangerine, nectarine, mango, pear, trace of white flowers, smoky minerality flanked by green tea tannins and citrus acidity. Pink grapefruit, lemon, frankincense resin pop on the fizzy citrus finish. Well balanced, striking, gluggable.
