Estate: Matteo Furlani is the 4th generation of his family to farm the tiny plots of vines, 700+ meters in altitude, in the Dolomites of Trentino, northeastern Italy. The estate was always farmed organically, without any chemicals. Matteo has taken this natural approach further, adopting biodynamic methods.
Philosophy: “Grapes cultivated and vinified with passion, always respecting nature, environment and animals.”
Winemaking: Vines are in clay, schist and broken granite soils, at 700 meters in elevation. Made with the Sur Lie Method, from the winery: “Sur Lie is something in between Pet Nats, Ancestral Method, Champagne Method”. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel, frozen must added before re-fermentation in the bottle during Spring. No added sugar or sulfur, no disgorgement.
Tasting Notes: Delicate layers of wild berries, violet, pink grapefruit, pomegranate, pink peppercorn, chalky minerality underscored with citrus acidity and fine fizz. Watermelon, strawberry, wild flowers infuse the crisp finish. Sprightly, invigorating, gluggable.
