Winery: With their origins beginning in 1894, and then re-emerging in 1958, Produttori del Barbaresco is renowned for their quintessential, traditional Barbaresco. Today there are a little under 60 members, encompassing 100 hectares including acclaimed crus/MGAs throughout Barbaresco. Depending on the vintage, between 1 and 10 wines are crafted from the grapes of all the 9 MGAs, in fantastic years, a proportion of grapes are reserved from each site for a single vineyard wine.
Winemaking: Grapes are from various vineyards in the Barbaresco DOCG, with a mix of limestone, clay, sandy streaks, calcium rich soils. Aged 24 months in large oak casks.
Tasting Notes: Transparent garnet in colour, with aromas of rose, cherry, strawberry, tarry earth, trace of baking spice. Fine grain tannins and fresh acidity frame strawberry, blackberry, rose petal, white pepper, cigar box spice and a wisp of cedar smoke. Subtle spice and tarry earth linger on the red fruit finish. Elegant, agile.
