Estate: Anneliese and Werner Michlit live in harmony with nature, agriculture and viticulture in the middle of a World Heritage Site in Seewinkel, on the eastern side of Lake Neusidl in Burgenland, eastern Austria. The estate is “a fully self-sustaining family farm and eco-community”. The land is farmed organically and biodynamically, the vineyards are surrounded by natural ponds and wild herb and grasses. In addition to grapes, the family farm tends to apples, sunflowers, heirloom varieties of wheat, a prized herd of Angus cattle and a colony of bees.
Winemaking: The cellar sees very little intervention; nothing is added during the winemaking process. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts with skin maceration for about 20 days in concrete eggs, aged on the lees for 1 year.
Tasting Notes: Orange, pink grapefruit, apricot, apple, mango accented by tingly acidity. Green tea tannins fuse with peach, mango and citrus zest on the crisp mineral finish. Sumptuous, bright and breezy.
