Over 300 years ago Cosimo III de’ Medici, the Grand Duke of Tuscany established the boundaries for the production of Chianti. Located in the heart of Tuscany, between Florence and Siena, today this area is the production zone for Chianti Classico. The trademark black rooster [the historic symbol of the Chianti Military League] is found on every bottle of Chianti Classico.
Overview of Chianti Classico DOCG Rules:

2018 Vintage Summary:
-Critics are describing 2018 as an excellent vintage in Tuscany, with lovely balance of structure and fruit.
-Antonio Galloni states that for Chianti Classico, wines are “built on linear precision and persistence more than size or opulence” and will more than likely need a few years more in the bottle to reach their full expression.
-In full agreeance, I have found 2018 Chianti Classico to be well balanced, with a sense of repose and contemplative power. I am excited to see their progression following a couple of years in the cellar. Below are 6 stellar Chianti Classico that I found most distinctive and engaging amongst a sea of fantastic wines exhibited at Chianti Classico Collection | CoNNection 2021 in NYC.
