Estate: One of the world’s legendary winemakers, Bruno Giacosa was renowned for his prestigious, traditional, single-vineyard Barolo and Barbaresco wines. He began making wine alongside his father at the age of 15 and continued on for nearly 8 decades. During the 1960’s he was a pioneering force in bottling cru Barolo and Barbaresco. Known as the “Genius of Neive”, he was dedicated to “traditional vinification, and an emphasis on terroir and typicity”. Upon his passing in 2018, his daughter Bruna, the 4th generation, is committed to maintaining her father’s legacy.
Winemaking: Grapes are from organically farmed vineyards in Vezza d’Alba, Monteu Roero, Santo Stefano Roero, Canale and Montà d’Alba; vines are 19-26 years in age in generally sandy soils. Aged 4 months in stainless steel vats.
Tasting Notes: Light gold-green in colour, with aromas of lemon, jasmine, pignoli. A luster of steely acidity over creamy lemon, almond and trace of herbs. Citrus zest lingers on the crisp mineral finish. Sleek, refined, refreshing.
