Estate: Christina Netzl grew up working in the vineyards alongside her parents and grandparents in the heart of the Caruntum region, east of Vienna. Following studies in oenology and wine management, she began to passionately pursue the transition to organic viticulture at her family estate, beginning the process for certification in 2018. The ‘Christina’ line of wines is a reflection of her love for ancient winemaking methods.
Winemaking: Hand harvested grapes are from a vineyard with “chilled winds of the nearby River Danube” and red gravel and loess soils. Whole bunch pressing, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel, unfined and unfiltered. The insects depicted on the label represent the beneficial bugs that inhabit the vineyard, aiding in pest control and overall health of the vines.
Tasting Notes: Foggy light gold in colour, with aromas of lemon, granny smith apple, pear, grapefruit, saline minerality. Tingley, tangy acidity glitters over lemon, pink grapefruit and pineapple. Citrus and a shake of white pepper linger on the crisp, saline finish. Sunny and refreshing.
