Domaine: Taking over his family domaine in 1986, Henri Milan’s focus has always been to make the best possible wine whilst respecting the land. Located at the foot of the Alpilles Mountains in Provence, the 15 hectare estate has been farmed organically since 1988 [certified 2002]. His daughter Emmanuelle works alongside him in the vineyard and cellar, whilst his son Théophile handles the business component.
Winemaking: All wines are fermented with native yeasts, with zero additions, with the exception of a small amount of SO2 at bottling, wines are unfined and unfiltered. A blend of 2 vintages; 2017 Merlot and Carignan, with the 2018 Carignan. “Both undergo a 5-day whole-cluster fermentation, followed by aging in concrete vat for 1 year.”
Tasting Notes: Garnet in colour, with aromas of black cherry, earth, rose petal, caramel. Black cherry, raisin, candied violet, forest floor, black pepper and good acidity glide atop black tea tannins. Rose petal along with a bitter streak accent the smoky finish.
