Estate: Raffaele La Mura comes from a long line of winemakers; he grew up watching both his father, uncle and grandfather making wine at the family estate, La Mura. Located in Penisola Sorrentina, near Naples, only grapes native to Campania are grown. Dedicated to preserving the land and the indigenous grapes, Raffaele has revitalized his family estate, calling it Poggio delle Baccanti.
Winemaking: Vineyards are farmed organically and sustainably, with low intervention in both the vineyard and cellar. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, no added sulfites, second fermentation in the bottle.
Tasting Notes: Red violet with pink fizz, with aromas of black cherry, violet, spice, wildflowers and a wisp of smoky earth. Fantastic fizz fuses with blackberry, pomegranate, cherry, black tea tannins and fresh acidity. Blackberry and smoke linger on the crisp finish. Engaging and super versatile.
Blend of Piedirosso and Aglianico [Consorzio rules are a minimum of 40% Piedirosso and maximum 20% Aglianico.]
