Estate: The Rovellotti family has been making wine in the Novaresi Hills of Piemonte for over 600 years. Brothers Antonello and Paolo Rovellotti oversee the 25 hectares and winery that are part of the medieval Ricetto castle of Ghemme. Vineyards are exposed to fresh Alpine winds, and have high acid, morainic, clay soils. Farming is “eco-sustainable” with a focus on creating and preserving diverse biodiversity around the vineyards.
Winemaking: Malolactic fermentation in temperature controlled steel tanks following primary fermentation, aged 4-6 months in the bottle.
Tasting Notes: Red-violet in colour, with aromas of cinnamon, rose petal, black cherry, green peppercorn and earth. All the cherries [red, black, sour], blackberry, pomegranate, bramble, black pepper, rose petal and a hint of tobacco are framed by robust tannins and fresh acidity. Cherry compote and cranberry linger on the plush finish. Rich and velvety with a supple edge.
