Estate: In 2004 Nino Barraco took over his family’s vineyards with the goal of crafting wines from native grapes that express the distinctive terroir of his region. Located in extreme western Sicily, in Marsala, Nino’s vineyards stretch along the coast. Passionate about preserving ancient winemaking traditions, he focuses on single vineyard wines, using organic and low intervention methods.
Philosophy: “My idea is not to create a “perfect” wine, but a wine that pours emotions!”
Winemaking: Grapes are from a vineyard 30 meters from the sea, with limestone and red soils. Fermented with native yeasts, 1 day skin contact in stainless steel, followed by ageing in concrete, no added SO2.
Tasting Notes: Gold in colour, with aromas of apple, apricot, baked pear, wildflowers, earth and sea spray. Apricot, nectarine, yellow apple, a trace of white flowers are glossed by citrus acidity. Nuts, peach, pink grapefruit and saline minerality linger between each sunny sip. Sleek and vibrant.
