Estate: Mario Macciocca is renowned as a champion of biodynamic and low intervention winemaking in Lazio, central Italy. He has just over 4 hectares of native grape vineyards with clay and limestone soils on the rocky slopes of the Scalambra mountains.
Winemaking: Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, unfined, unfiltered, no added sulphur. Fermented and aged in stainless steel.
Tasting Notes: Dark garnet in colour, with aromas of black cherry, blackberry liqueur, candied rose petal, peppery spice and dusty earth. Cherry, plum, rosemary, flinty minerality, a trace of cinnamon and fresh acidity are framed by black tea tannins. Blackberry, espresso and licorice linger between each robust sip.
