Estate: The Bisci estate is located in the mountains of the Matelica appellation in the western part of the Marche region in central Italy. Acknowledged for crafting exceptional Verdicchio, the estate is devoted to quality and employs methods such as “bottling only wine from first run must, and actually skipping vintages when not entirely satisfied”.
Winemaking: Organic viticulture is practiced, along with environmentally friendly methods such as the use of cover crops [Starting with the 2019 vintage, the estate is certified organic.]. Only low amounts of sulphur are added to the wines. The grapes are from vines planted in 1978-2016, at 300-350 meters in elevation, fermented in stainless steel, aged on the lees in glass lined glass lined cement vats for 8 months.
Tasting Notes: Gold in colour, with bright aromas of apple, pear, peach, citrus blossom, herbs, flinty minerality and honey. Apricot, green apple, pear, herbs, a drizzle of honey and flinty minerals are glossed by citrus acidity. Pink grapefruit and summer herbs accent the almond finish. Silky, sleek and fresh.
