Estate: Cascina Sòt was established in 1975 when Maria and Giuseppe Sanso purchased the property they had been working on as sharecroppers. Located in Monforte d’Alba, in the Province of Cuneo, in Piedmont, they are now assisted by their son Leonardo and his wife Silvana. With a focus on “respect for the future and the environment”, vineyards are cultivated without chemicals, low intervention methods are practiced in both the vineyards and cellar.
Winemaking: Traditional vinification in stainless steel with submerged cap for 10 days, malolactic fermentation in wood, then 40% of the wine is aged in second passage barriques for 6 months, followed by time in the bottle.
Tasting Notes: Garnet in colour with aromas of strawberry, black cherry, dusty earth and peppery spice. Strawberry, raspberry, black cherry, pomegranate black pepper, earth, a trace of licorice and fresh acidity glide across firm tannins. Red fruit, hint of wildflowers and a trace of cigar box spice linger between each sip.
