Estate: Francesco Rinaldi e Figli is one of the most famous names in Piemonte. Established in 1870 by Giovanni Rinaldi, his son Francesco became a legendary figure in Barolo. The estate has been passed down to each generation, today it is headed by Paola and Piera Rinaldi. With vineyards in Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and La Morra, they embody the best in Barolo. The estate is famed for crafting wines that embrace history and tradition, and are “beautiful, classic expressions of their underlying terroirs”. Vineyards are farmed organically.
Winemaking: Grapes are from the 1 hectare, southwest facing Roussot vineyard, close to the Barolo Cannubi cru, from vines planted between 1975 -1977. Soils are sandy, with a mix of clay, calcareous and silica. Vinified in stainless steel tanks with skin contact fermentation for about 15 days, followed by 6 months ageing in stainless steel and an additional 6 months in the bottle.
Tasting Notes: Transparent ruby red in colour, with aromas of raspberry, strawberry, black cherry, earth and white pepper. Wild strawberry, pomegranate, cherry, and cranberry are framed by juicy acidity and silky tannins. White pepper, earth and tart red berries join a bitter almond vein on the sleek finish. Fresh, juicy and gluggable.
