Estate: Founded in 1863 by Giacinto Brovia, the famed Barolo estate is now headed by the 4th generation, sisters Cristina and Elena. Over the years the family acquired land in some of the best crus in Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d’Alba, today estate is just over 19 hectares. The majority of production is Barolo [Nebbiolo], followed by traditional Piemontese grapes Dolcetto, Barbera, Arneis and Freisa. Farming is organic, with zero chemicals used in the vineyards and cellar.
Tasting Notes: Dark red violet in colour, very aromatic, with black cherry, raspberry, red cherry, plum, black pepper, licorice, wildflower, forest floor and a trace of sweet pine. Wild berries, licorice, black pepper, tarry earth, a drop of mocha and fresh acidity glide atop firm tannins. Wild berries compliment the distinctive bitter finish. A plush, voluminous expression of Freisa.
