Estate: Andrea Scovero is the 4th generation of his family to farm grapes in the hills of Costigliole d’Asti, 7 miles south of the town of Asti in Piemonte. The 6 hectares of organically farmed [certified] vineyards are situated in a natural amphitheater, “providing the ideal balance of exposure and protection for his vines”. Andrea credits his grandfather with teaching him everything he knows about winemaking, and he is passionate about crafting wines made in the style of his grandparents.
Winemaking: Fermented with native yeasts, unfined.
Tasting Notes: Ruby red with pink edges in colour, with aromas of raspberry, dried strawberry and dusty earth. Cherry, strawberry, raspberry and clean minerality are framed by fresh acidity and light, silky tannins. Black currant, cherry, crushed rock minerals, trace of roasted chipotle and a wisp of candied flower petal linger on the fruity finish. Agile, engaging and well balanced, more in common with a light red then a rosato.
