Estate: Beginning as sharecroppers, the Antano family has been an integral part of the winemaking history in Montefalco. With 20 hectares of vineyards, Milziade Antano is committed to the traditional methods and tools passed down by his father. Employing low intervention practices with non-modern equipment, he is known as a true “garage winemaker”. The name Colle Allodole is a refence to migrating larks that are part of the tradition and history of the Umbrian hills.
Winemaking: From vines planted in 1967, in stony, clay soil. Fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, aged for 24 months, with 12 months in large oak barrels. Unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: Dark red violet in colour, with aromas of black cherry, black currant, strawberry, cocoa powder, black pepper, earth and nutmeg. Black cherry, blueberry, black currant, blackberry, black pepper, a trace of espresso and fresh acidity glide across a backbone of grippy tannins. Black currant, earth, smoke, mocha, and peppery spice linger on the plush finish. Powerful and sleek.
