Estate: 3rd generation winemakers Fausto and Cinzia Cellario are passionately dedicated to preserving both grapes and winemaking traditions that are indigenous to Piemonte. Their estate is located in in the village of Carru, in the southwestern Langhe region of Piemonte. The 30 hectares of vineyards are planted with only native Piemonte grapes.
Philosophy: “Our aim is to make a simple and genuine wine.”
Winemaking: Farming is organic [soon to be certified]. They are certified “environment friendly cultivation”. Hand harvested grapes are from vines in marl soil. Fermented with indigenous yeasts, 10 day maceration on the skins, aged for 12 months in cement tanks. Unfined, unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: Inky red violet in colour, with aromas of blackberry, bramble, cherry and a trace of licorice. Dark berries, a bitter streak and silky tannins wrap around an earthy core. Red fruits pack the snappy finish. Straightforward and gluggable.
