Estate: La Miraja is ensconced in the original 11th century castle of Castagnole Monferrato, in Piemonte, northwestern Italy. Eugenio Gatti is the 7th generation of his family to produce wine there. Castagnole Monferrato is regarded as the birthplace of Ruché, and rather fittingly, Eugenio Gatti has the oldest vineyard of Ruché grapes in existence. The armory of the castle was retrofitted as a wine cellar in the 1400’s and is still used by Gatti today.
Tasting Notes: Transparent ruby red in colour with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, cherry, bramble and a trace of baking spice. Flinty minerality accents wild berries, cranberry and a shake of spice. Fresh acidity and light, silky tannins fuse with the fruity, clean finish. Straightforward and pure, a delight on its own or with a wide variety of dishes.
