Estate: Matteo Furlani is the 4th generation of his family to farm the tiny plots of vines, 700+ meters in altitude, in the Dolomites of Trentino, northeastern Italy. The estate was always farmed organically, without any chemicals. Matteo has taken this natural approach further, adopting biodynamic methods.
Philosophy: “Grapes cultivated and vinified with passion, always respecting nature, environment and animals.”
Winemaking: Grapes are from 30 year old vineyards in small parcels surrounding the village of Povo, directly above Trento. Soils are calcareous, clay over schist with broken granite [sasso dolomitico]. Spontaneous fermentation in the bottle, no sulfur or yeast added.
Tasting Notes: Light gold in colour with aromas of lemon, almond, hay and a whisper of funk. Like a lemon drop glossed with lively fizz, honey coats the dry, snappy finish. Simple, clean and super refreshing, with an engaging play of sour and sweet.
