Estate: Eric Pfifferling and his wines are legendary. His wines have somewhat of a cult status, elusive and difficult to find. When you do find them, snatch them up because they won’t be there for long. Up until 2002 Eric worked the family property, selling his grapes to a local cooperative. A former beekeeper, he realized the full potential of his exceptional terroir and extremely old vines, located in the heart of Tavel, on the east side of the Rhône River. Certified organic, vines and harvests are all done by hand, he “avoids all manipulation in the winery, meaning no added yeast, enzymes, or sulfur”.
Winemaking: This new cuvee is a collaboration between Eric Pfifferling and Brice & Emilie Bolognini. Grapes are from the Bolognini’s organic vineyard in the Costières de Nîmes.
Tasting Notes: Cherry red in colour with aromas of strawberry, cherry, sea spray, a wisp of funk and a nuance of wildflowers. Red currant, apple, pomegranate, a shake of white pepper and fresh herbs are glossed by good acidity. Strawberry and orange zest linger between each silky sip. Fun, fruity and nimble.
