Estate: Passionate about restoring her family’s ancient property of vineyards and olive groves, Danila Pisano founded her estate in 1990. The tiny 1 hectare estate is located in Liguria, northwestern Italy. She only grows the indigenous Rossese grape, and farms organically [certified since 1996], traditionally and with low intervention.
Winemaking: Vineyards are at an altitude of 150-250m with southwest exposures on steep hillsides. Vines are terraced and supported by traditional stone walls. Many of the vines date to the 1930’s, and are ungrafted.
Tasting Notes: Transparent garnet in colour with aromas of cherry, eucalyptus, raspberry, woods, peppery spice and wild flowers. Cherry, strawberry, raspberry, white pepper and a trace of rose petal are wrapped in silky, firm tannins and fresh acidity. Black cherry and grilled Mediterranean herbs linger on the plush finish. A silky fusion of fruit, herbs and spice.
