Estate: Sven Enderle and Florian Moll founded Enderle & Moll in 2007. The estate consists of 5 hectares of vineyards in Münchweier, a historic winemaking village on the slopes of the Black Forest in Baden. Revitalizing old vines [45-60 years in age] and practicing super low intervention, organic and biodynamic farming has not made them popular amongst the local winemakers who are farming for quantity not quality. Rebels and pioneers, their expressive wines have quickly developed a cult following.
Winemaking: Grapes are from vines in sandstone and limestone soils. Fermented on the skins for 5-6 weeks, then pressed and matured in used barrels for about 10 months. Lightly filtered, and almost no sulfur added.
Tasting Notes: Ruby with copper highlights in colour, with aromas of strawberry, red currant, wildflowers, dusty earth and white pepper. Cranberry, Morello cherry, red currant, trace of red apple, candied ginger are accented by an herbaceous undercurrent and racy acidity. Tart red fruit, citrus zest and a wisp of smoky minerality linger on the dry, crisp finish. Clean, elegant and refreshing, a fantastic sip.
