Estate: Jochen Beurer’s family has been growing grapes for generations in Kernen, just outside of Stuttgart. In 1997, the family made the difficult decision to leave the cooperative that Jochen’s father, Siegfried was the head of, and start their own independent winery. Their goal was to improve the quality of the wines they were making and have “a lot of fun with wine”.
Today, the estate focuses on ecology and preserving the environment. The 10 hectares of vineyards are certified biodynamic by Demeter, the natural, methods ensure not only “healthy, balanced vines, but also create habitats for herbs, plants and animals”. Tasting Notes: Transparent ruby red in colour with aromas of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, black pepper and flinty minerals. Agile layers of cranberry, pomegranate, red currant and wild strawberry are dusted with crushed black peppercorn. Fresh acidity and light, yet firm tannins accent the bright fruit and spice on the dry finish. Easy drinking and cheerful, fantastic on its own or with a wide variety of dishes.
