Domaine de la Madone ‘Nouveau’ Beaujolais Villages 2018

Estate: Domaine de la Madone is run by the Bererd family, whose history in the Beaujolais region dates all the way back to the 16th century. The domaine is located on the famous hillside of La Madone in the northern part of the Beaujolais region and is headed today by Olivier and Katerina Bererd. The vineyards are situated on high altitude, steep slopes with pink granite soil, which bestow their wines with a renowned “complexity and depth than nearly any other wines designated Beaujolais-Villages”.

Winemaking: All grapes are hand harvested from low yielding old vines, the majority of which are 100 years old. Vineyards are farmed organically. Since 1998, Skurnik Wines have been importing this limited edition Nouveau, and it has consistently been “at the top of the Nouveau rankings in Wine Spectator and the New York Times”.

Tasting Notes: Transparent dark red-violet in colour with aromas of blueberry, cherry blackberry and candied violet. Wild berry jam is accented by crushed black peppercorn, silky tannins and fresh acidity. Consistently a lovely, simple, silky synthesis of fruit and spice.
