Pierre Gaillard ‘Les Gendrines’ Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2014

Estate: Pierre Gaillard purchased his first land, Clos de Cuminailles, located in Malleval, in the Loire region of central France in 1981. Today he has 3 estates with 77 hectares that stretch from the northern Rhone Valley, from Côte-Rôtie down through to Cornas in the South. All of his estates are farmed organically.

Winemaking: Handpicked grapes are from east facing vineyards with fine granite-laden sandy hillsides. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in 90% old/10% new oak barrels. Aged 7 to 8 months in fine oak from Allier and Nevers, 5% new oak. Stirring on lees once a week.

Tasting Notes: Gold in colour, highly aromatic with rich mango, pineapple, candied ginger, orange blossom, peach, honeysuckle and white pepper. Lemon bars dusted with crushed pink peppercorn are accented by juicy peach and apricot. Tangerine and ginger gloss the dry, mineral finish. Perfectly balanced luscious fruit and spice, a fantastic sip!
