Estate: Herta and Erhard Tutzer purchased the Plonerharf farm in 2003, transforming it from an apple farm into a vineyard and winery. The estate is located in Marling, South Tyrol in northern Italy. Passionate about protecting the stunning environment, the vines, and crafting high quality wines, zero chemicals are used.
Winemaking: Grapes are from vineyards on eastern facing hill sides, with mixed sand and silt over granite soils. Vinified in both large and small oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Transparent bright garnet in colour with expressive aromas of cherry, strawberry, black pepper, flinty minerals, violets and warm summer earth. Strawberry, cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, earth, rosemary and a vein of minerality are supported by fresh acidity and light, silky tannins. Fruit and hint of cigar box spice linger on the silky finish. Well-structured and well balanced, a fantastic, sleek sip.
