Estate: Located in Abruzzo, 20 km from the highest peak of the Apennines and 20 km from the sea, the San Lorenzo estate was founded in 1890 by Francesco d’Amico. Today, the 5th generation of the family, Gianluca and Fabrizio Galasso are heading the estate. With its 150 hectares that form a single vineyard that stretches over 3 hills, it is the largest family estate in Abruzzo.
Winemaking: Grapes are hand harvested from vineyards in the hills of Castilenti, with calcareous clay soils, aged in stainless steel.
Tasting Notes: Bright ruby red in colour with aromas of strawberry, cherry, hay and rain-washed slate. Raspberry, strawberry, pomegranate, cherry, candied apple and a streak of minerality are glossed with citrus acidity, finishing dry and fruity. Fun and fruity, fantastic on its own and having enough heft to be paired with a wide variety of dishes.
Pairing Suggestions from the Winery: Excellent with appetizers, pasta dishes, white meats, fish soups and fresh cheeses.
