Estate: Dating back to 1500, there is an incredible amount of history and happenings throughout the estate’s many years. The castle has been home to famous families, renowned architects, oenologists, Generals and even a King. In 1909 the Burlotto family purchased the estate. In 1953 legendary Barolo winemaker Giovanni Battista Burlotto, restored and revitalized the castle, vines and cellar. A portion of the castle was made into a hotel with a restaurant, with the vision to create a meeting point for food and wine. His 3 daughters carried his tradition on, and today it is their 3 daughters [Elisabetta, Alessandra and Giovana], along with their respective families continuing on the winemaking traditions and hospitality created by their grandfather.
Winemaking: Aged for 9 months in stainless steel tanks, followed by 1 month in the bottle before its release. Unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: Transparent garnet in colour with aromas of strawberry, cherry, roses, smoky earth, black pepper and coriander. Airy layers of silky cherry, raspberry, blackberry, pomegranate, herbs and earth are framed by muscular tannins and bright acidity. Tart fruit and spice linger on the dry finish. Lovely on its own or with a wide variety of dishes.
