Estate: Torcuato Huertas has spent his entire life working amongst the vines. Inspired by the young wine his great-grandfather used to make, he set about following and improving his family’s winemaking traditions. Located in the Andalusia region of Sierra Nevada, southern Spain, at 900 and 1050 meters above sea level, his 3 hectares of vineyards are remarkably planted with 21 varietals.
Winemaking: All grapes except Moscatel are macerated for 1 week with the skins. Part of the must has been fermented and aged in inox tank [stainless steel] , the rest has been fermented in inox and aged in French oak barric [225 litres] for 1 year. Spontaneous fermentation, unfined, unfiltered, no added sulphur, suitable for vegans.
Tasting Notes: Deep gold in colour, with lush aromas of burnt caramel and sea salt, nectarine, mango, dried apricot, orange zest, wildflowers and toast. Apricot, pear, peach, orange blossom, lemongrass and honey are wrapped with lip smacking acidity. Dried tropical fruits, and herbs comprise the dry, rather savory finish.
Blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Macabeo, Palomino, Chardonnay, Viognier, Albariño, Torrontés, Moscatel de Alejandría and Jerezana [Varietal percentages not available.]
