Brand: “Elios” is the creation of Sicilian brothers, Nicola and Roberto Adamo. They passionately reinvigorated the family farm their father established from one that sold grapes and olives, into an estate that crafts its own natural wine, olive oil and honey. Located on the west coast of Sicily, in Alcamo, the 15 hectare estate consists of organically famed vineyards, olive groves and an apiary.
Winemaking: Hand harvested grapes are from vines in clay and gravel soil. “Grillo and Zibbibbo are harvested August and co-fermented with natural yeast and left to macerate for 20 days. Catarratto is picked later and processed separately. Once combined the wine is steel-aged on the lees for seven months. It is bottled unfined, unfiltered and with just a small amount of sulfur.”
Tasting Notes: Light orange-gold in colour with vivid aromas of apricot, mango, nectarine, honey, orange zest and elderflower. Fresh acidity frames mango, apricot, nectarine, peach, orange and creamy lemon. Tropical fruit and herbs shimmer on the finish that just melts away. Expressive and sunny, like a creamsicle with a fresh, savoury edge, grab it before its gone.
