Estate: Erik Banti acquired his passion for wine growing up at his family’s estate of La Braccesca in Montepulciano, Tuscany. He become famous for his achievements in car racing and golf. In the late 1970’s he returned to Tuscany, and by the 80’s had become renowned for his Morellino wines [the local name for Sangiovese].
Winemaking: Organic methods are used, additionally the vineyards are not irrigated. A photovoltaic system is used for the electricity needs of the winery. Grapes are from vineyards facing the Tyrrhenian Sea in Morellino di Scansano. Aged for 10 months in Slavonian and American oak barriques.
Tasting Notes: Nearly transparent garnet in colour with aromas of cherry, earth, graham cracker and a shake of white pepper. Cherry, red currant and a hint of mint wrap around a dry, baking spice frame. Black cherry lingers on the dry fruity finish. Straightforward and a gluggable pairing with pizza and pastas.
70% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot, 15% Ciliegiolo
