Estate: Bodegas Ateca was founded in 2005 and is a joint project between the Gil Family Estates group and passionate, pioneering wine importer Jorge Ordonez. The vineyards are located on steep hillsides 700-900 meters above sea level in the Calatayud region of northeastern Spain.
Winemaking: Grapes were sourced from 60 year old Garnacha vines in slate and clay soils. Fermented in stainless steel tanks then aged for 2 months in French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Deep red-violet in colour with aromas of cherry and damp earth. Black cherry, hints of tart red currant and herbaceous nuances culminated in chili flake and earth notes on the dry, spicy finish.
