A little weightier then most Beaujolais Nouveau, with well balanced fruit, acidity and spice.
Estate: Domaine de la Madone is run by the Bererd family, whose history in the Beaujolais region dates all the way back to the 16th century. The domaine is located on the famous hillside of La Madone in the northern part of the Beaujolias region. The vineyards are situated on high altitude, steep slopes with pink granite soil, which bestow their wines with a renowned “complexity and depth than nearly any other wines designated Beaujolais-Villages”.
Winemaking: All grapes are hand harvested from low yielding old vines, the majority of which are 100 years old. Since 1998, Skurnik Wines has been importing this limited edition Nouveau, and it has consistently been “at the top of the Nouveau rankings in Wine Spectator and the New York Times”.
Tasting Notes: Bright red-violet in colour with aromas of fresh strawberry, cherry and traces of wet rock minerals. A substantial Nouveau with strawberry and black cherry flavours supported by a food friendly acidity, finishing with lingering notes of white pepper, licorice and clean minerals.
