A straightforward and pleasant Côtes du Rhône that not only is enjoyable with a wide variety of dishes and a good value, but also contributes to saving honey bees.
Estate: Jean-Luc Colombo has been “hailed as the winemaking wizard of the Rhône”, and is internationally renowned for crafting innovative, character driven, memorable wines. Les Abeilles is named for the bees of the Rhône Valley. The Colombo family keeps their own hives and supports research to eradicate the threat against bees by donating a portion of the sale of every bottle of ‘Les Abeilles’ to honey bee research.
Philosophy: Working closely with his wife and daughter, he is driven by the philosophy that creating quality wine is dependent on three fundamental elements; “terroir, human endeavor and modern winemaking techniques”.
Tasting Notes: Dark garnet in colour with aromas of fresh currants, earth and herbaceous hints. Red currant along with blackberry merged into a finish of spicy black peppercorn and warm earth notes.
