Although a bit flat for my personal taste, at under $10 this is still a good value.
Winery: Bodegas Breca was established in 2005 by pioneer wine importer Jorge Ordonez. The winery consists of 265 hectares of high elevation, old vine garnacha vineyards located between the Sierra de Pardos and the Sierra de Pena Blanca in northern Spain.
Winemaking: Grapes were sourced from 60-80 year old vines located 3000 feet above sea level.
Tasting Notes: Dark violet-red in colour with aromas of cherry and toasted oak. A bit hot even after decanting [see what I did there?], tart flavours of red currant and cranberry emerged and gave way to a sweet and spicy finish of black peppercorn, hints of anise and vanilla.
