Estate: Le Ginestre is a family estate located in the hills of Grinzane Cavour, in the Alba region of northwest Italy and headed by the brother and sister team of Gian Luca and Barbara Audasso.
Philosophy: Love of the land and the greatness of the wines “drives us on to constant improvement”. The are “filled with emotion” at “the passing of the seasons in the vineyard followed by the transformation in the wine-making process through to the uncorking of the first bottle of the vintage; it is like taking a child by the hand, and accompanying it on its path through life”.
Winemaking: Organic farming is practiced and only natural copper and sulphur based products are used for disease prevention. Vines are tended to by hand, and all grapes are hand harvested. The Madonna Como Barbera was sourced from vineyards planted in 1970 in the village of Monforte d’Alba, and aged in stainless steel.
Tasting Notes: Red-violet in colour with bright, fruity aromas of cherry and strawberry. Light, dry tannins harmonise with morello cherry, blackberry and earthy hints, finishing with a clean, chalky minerality.

From a friend’s cellar, he could not recall the price and I could not locate one online.
