Frontón de Oro Tintilla 2011

Frontón de Oro Tintilla accompanying scrambled eggs with almond romesco, boucheron cheese and confit toast at GATO, NYC.

Light and fruity with a delightfully contrasting earthy backbone, this is an engaging companion to a wide variety of dishes.

Estate: Fronton de Oro is a family winery headed by Pedro and Antonio Ramírez and is located in the hills of Gran Canaria Island, in the Canary Islands off the coast of Spain. The majority of the vineyards are located above 1000 meters on terraced slopes with volcanic soils. Gran Canaria received its DO [Denominaciones de Origen] status in 2000, making it the youngest wine region in the Canary Islands.

Tasting Notes: Dark red-violet in colour with aromas of fresh raspberry, earthy minerals and hints of oak. Engaging and charismatic with bright raspberry, blackberry flavours and silky tannins that broaden into a lengthy finish of crushed black peppercorn, vanilla and suggestions of smoky volcanic earth.
