A rustic and engaging Cabernet Franc with bright fruit and an earthy backbone, this is a phenomenal value fantastic at the table.
Producer: Founded in 1921 by Paulin Lebrun, Foucher-Lebrun is a “Petit Negociant” specializing in wines from the Loire Valley. Chais Saint-Laurent is their second label.
Philosophy: “To convey the expression of the appellations in the Loire region by careful selection, vinification and aging of its wines”.
Winemaking: The grapes were sourced from select vineyards in the villages of Riviere, Beaumont-en-Veron and Savigny-en-Veron.
Tasting Notes: Red-violet in colour with aromas of cherry, violets, earth and crushed white peppercorn. Fresh tart red currant and blackberry fruits were supported by earthy forest elements, whilst chewy tannins, smoked white peppercorn and hints of baking chocolate comprised the velvety finish.
Pairings: [From the Producer] Grilled salmon, roast pork, burgers and goat cheese.
