I picked up Lavergne Bordeaux 2010 since 2010 is a phenomenal vintage for Bordeaux, and at $8 I didn’t think I could go wrong. As is the case with other value bottles I’ve had, it can be difficult to locate specifics on the winery and production. Unfortunately I was not able to find any details, except that the bottler produces/bottles other entry level and value Bordeaux.
Dark garnet in colour with aromas of cherry, vanilla and hints of savoury olive. Tart cherry, red currant and blackberry were supported by earthy elements and lightly astringent tannins, whilst crushed white peppercorn and hints of blackcurrant comprised the moderate finish. At under $10, this is a stunning value fantastic with everyday dishes.
